About Us
I’m a qualified primary school teacher with a first class degree in primary education from the University of Northampton. I currently teach in a primary school, giving me up-to-date knowledge of the national curriculum and experience using research-backed teaching methods. I have more than 9 years experience working with children in educational settings, including both classroom teaching and tutoring, with a specialism in SATs preparation.
As a neurodivergent educator, I understand first-hand how important it is to adapt learning to the children's individual interests. I believe that children learn best when they feel engaged, supported, and motivated, so I aim to identify common interests amongst the children in each group and create personalised sessions that build confidence, reduce anxiety, and make learning meaningful. Through an initial assessment and ongoing review, lessons are tailored to each child’s individual needs, ensuring they feel supported and are able to reach their full potential.
I am passionate about planning fun, engaging, and creative lessons that bring learning to life. My sessions are designed to be supportive and encouraging, helping children develop not only their academic skills but also their confidence and independence as learners.
My genuine love for teaching and helping young learners succeed is what inspired me to create Julico Learning, and I’m excited to use my experience and enthusiasm to support your child on their learning journey.
The name Julico Learning is personal to me and is a combination of the name of my lovely mum - Julie - and my little 4-year-old Cavapoochon, Cody!
Small-Group Sessions
Tutoring sessions are delivered in small groups, which can support the development of conceptual understanding and reasoning skills, and boost motivation and engagement.
Children can benefit from learning alongside others, enabling them the opportunity to hear different ideas and explain their own thinking and strategies to others; they are able to see different approaches to the same problem. This can support the development of their reasoning skills, encourage children to think more flexibly and help them acquire a deeper understanding of concepts.
Small groups can also be more motivating and engaging. Activities can be planned to include discussion, collaboration and fun challenges which often keeps children more focused and involved; this can develop children's fluency of concepts taught and can make sessions feel more enjoyable which is linked to a better retention of knowledge.
Reward System & Learning Values
Rewards can be a highly effective motivator for some children. To encourage positive learning behaviours, I use a reward system called Julico Cards. Children earn a card at the end of each session by demonstrating three learning values: curiosity, collaboration and perseverance. These cards are taken home and, once 10 have been collected, can be exchanged for a small prize. This provides immediate positive reinforcement, helping to boost motivation and engagement.
Curiosity
Children are encouraged to ask questions, explore ideas, and show interest in their learning by actively engaging with new concepts.
Collaboration
Children are expected to work positively with others, listen respectfully, share ideas, and contribute to group learning activities.
Perseverance
Children are supported to keep trying when learning feels challenging, showing resilience, effort, and a willingness to improve over time.
While rewards can be a helpful way to encourage positive learning behaviours, I also place a strong emphasis on developing children’s intrinsic motivation. My aim is to help learners build a genuine desire to learn, set their own goals, and feel proud of their progress and achievements, so their confidence and independence continue to grow beyond the sessions.
How it works

Home Visit and Trial Session
After an enquiry has been submitted, I will be in contact to organise a home visit to discuss your child's individual learning needs and goals for the future; we will also complete some light assessments and then I will invite your child to join a trial session.

Bespoke Support
Groups are formed based on children's school year and sessions will be adapted to meet your child's learning needs and goals. I will aim to identify common interests amongst the children to create exciting and engaging lessons.

Ongoing Assessment
Children’s understanding is assessed throughout each session, ensuring teaching is responsive and progress is continuous. You will receive weekly emailed feedback outlining the content that has been covered and how your child is progressing, allowing you to support learning at home.
